KARACHI: The death of Kulsoom Nawaz comes as a shock to those who thought that the Sharifs were lying about her illness to gain sympathy votes in the General Elections of 2018. It is unfortunate that many — especially those who blindly supported other parties — accused the PML-N and its leaders of lying about something as serious as cancer.
Why is it that when it comes to politics, or perhaps when it comes to people with whom we disagree, we forget about the fact that these very people who we are against are humans too. Begum Kulsoom Nawaz battled through a dangerous illness, while many in Pakistan instead of praying for her health or keeping her out of dirty politics described it all as being nothing but a lie.
Her death should be a reminder for everyone that one shouldn’t give up humane considerations because of political competition. May Kulsoom Nawaz’s soul rest in peace.
