Doctors’ strike

Letter May 31, 2011
These same doctors whose credo is to save lives, but from the recent strike, seem to have forgotten their oath.

ISLAMABAD: It was recently reported in your newspaper that an infant died at Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital because of an ongoing strike by doctors. This is a distressing and unfortunate development.

These are the same doctors whose credo is to save lives, but from the recent strike — and it has been taking place — all over the country, they seem to have forgotten their oath.

Yes, it may be true that they have valid and just demands, but surely some balance should be struck. These could be a partial strike with emergency services kept open so that cases requiring urgent medical attention are not ignored.
