Hospitals and politicians

Letter September 02, 2018
Conduct of public representatives leaves much to be desired

KARACHI: There is certainly a correlation between Pakistani politicians, their jail terms and hospitalisation that usually follows once these politicians land in jails. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his son-in-law, former president Asif Ali Zardari and numerous others have gone through the experience. Recently, Pakistan Peoples Party’s Sharjeel Inam Memon was sent back to the jail after the Chief Justice of Pakistan discovered liquor bottles in his hospital room.

Conduct of public representatives leaves much to be desired. However, it is in the fitness of things to provide adequate medical facilities within the jail premises only so that one does not need to be moved outside the prison facility even for medical reasons.
