The national rail service functioned badly during Sheikh Rasheed’s last tenure
MULTAN: The case of the Pakistan Railway is no different from that of the national airline, PIA. Much like PIA, the Pakistan Railways too has suffered billions of rupees in losses with massive embezzlement and railway lands being illegally allotted to government officials and encroached upon with the help of government officials.
The Pakistan Railways once again has Sheikh Rasheed as its minister. The same Sheikh Rasheed who was in the PML-Q back then and served as railway minister during Gen Musharraf’s time. The national rail service functioned badly during Sheikh Rasheed’s last tenure, when not only the ticket prices were hiked, trains were cancelled and delayed for hours frequently.
For anyone who has travelled enough by trains can tell about the revamp railways experienced when Khawaja Saad Rafique of the PML-N took over. Moreover, facilities like online availability of train schedules and online ticketing were also made available.
