ISLAMABAD: It seems that there is a concerted campaign, among some sections of the media and political parties, to weaken Pakistan’s armed forces. Articles in your newspaper by Rubina Saigol and Pervez Hoodbhoy say many things that people in India say about our nuclear programme.
First, if we consider political parties, the PML-N seems to be taking the lead, conveniently ignoring the fact that its leader was, himself, nurtured by the military. MQM chief Altaf Hussain has also joined the chorus, and many of his arguments are echoed by people in India.
What all these critics fail to see is that were it not for the sacrifices of the military, and the presence of nuclear weapons, the country’s existence would be under severe threat. We all need to back the military and the intelligence agencies.
