Human Trafficking Day

Letter August 04, 2018
World Day Against Trafficking Person is observed with the aim of raising awareness among public

TURBAT: Every year on July 30, World Day Against Trafficking Person is observed with the aim of raising awareness among public about human trafficking.

The day was marked by the United Nation (UN) five years ago. In the same year, in 2013, the UN Voluntary Trust Fund was established for victims of trafficking, especially women and children who have never been given any kind of facilities to protect themselves.

Human trafficking is a trade of men, women or children for multiple reasons such as forced labour and sex. According to the International Labour Organisation, around 21 million people are victims of forced labour globally.

However, to be able to truly put a stop to this criminal activity awareness campaigns against human trafficking should be held to protect millions of lives. Moreover, the authorities concerned should take strict action against people who are involved in trafficking.
