Prioritising education

Letter August 02, 2018
TI’s performance in K-P has been unsatisfactory

MULTAN: The new government intends to bring about significant change in the country, however not much has been heard with regard to reforms in the education sector. Moreover, the PTI’s performance in K-P has been unsatisfactory, as the government was not being able to improve the school enrolment rate at the primary level, especially for girls. Comparatively, Punjab has performed much better in terms of improvement in literacy.

The new government of the PTI must keep educational reforms at the top of its agenda. It must not just build more schools but also update the curriculum that is being taught in schools for decades. Also, it is important that one examination system is practised across the country. Also, the programmes initiated by the previous government must not be given up as long as they are bringing benefit to the under-privileged.
