Need for maintaining decorum

Letter August 01, 2018
Especially in the days of the Gulalai issue, party workers had crossed the bounds of civil behaviour

KARACHI: There is  tendency of PTI workers to lash out at anyone who goes against the opinion sold by the PTI, which often means divergent opinion is met by the displeasure of the commons. Especially in the days of the Gulalai issue, party workers had crossed the bounds of civil behaviour in their attempts at casting both Gulalai and her supporters in a bad light.

The situation nearly repeated itself when the CNN journalist Hannah Vaughan Jones had to face similar call-outs from party supporters. Many, while calling her out, forgot that as a journalist she only performed her duties and, above all, she being a human being must be respected.

As for those asking why Reham and not Jemima Goldsmith was invited for talk at the show, it is important to note that Reham has recently published a book on her relationship with Imran Khan. And also because the former has worked for BBC as a broadcast journalist, so it made more sense to invite her and not Imran’s first wife.
