Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2018 aims at providing the due rights of the transgender community
ISLAMABAD: The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2018 aims at providing the due rights of the transgender community. It thus validates transgender identity and expression. The act spells out these rights explicitly steering it clear of all doubts regarding the citizenship of transgender community members. The act also provides freedom from discrimination in employment, education, health, inheritance and property rights, in the provision of goods and services, voting rights and holding of public office. The law, if implemented in its spirit and essence, will ensure progress for the marginalised community members.
