Aftermath of rains in Lahore

Letter July 09, 2018
Former CM Shehbaz blame caretaker provincial government

SIALKOT: A few days ago, when rains flooded Lahore and killed over a dozen, it was the Mall Road sinkhole in the city that not only got massive attention but also gave rise to several questions regarding the previous PML-N provincial government’s performance. Former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif was, however, quick to blame the caretaker provincial government for its failure to rectify the situation. It was also revealed that the crater was caused as the Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTCL) was undertaking some digging work. The PTCL has its head office close to the place. The caretaker government must investigate the matter and take action against those responsible for negligence, in order to avoid such incidents in the future.
