Excessive use of anti-biotics

Letter July 06, 2018
Researchers and medical experts have been highlighting the declining efficacy of anti-biotic medicines

HYDERABAD: Researchers and medical experts have been highlighting the declining efficacy of anti-biotic medicines particularly in developing countries due to their frequent and often needless prescription by physicians. As a result various diseases have become drug resistant. With increased drug resistance, the human body is prone to suffer from a disease for longer and hence the immunity is also reduced over time. Rural areas in Pakistan have since long been bearing the brunt of epidemic diseases. Now, recently the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued warning over the outbreak of a highly drug-resistant typhoid in Pakistan.

In Sindh, where various epidemics break out frequently the provincial and federal governments should take preventive measures against the outbreak of epidemics in the light of the above-mentioned warning.
