Elementary Education Foundation in K-P is set to launch its accelerated learning programme for out-of-school children
QUETTA: According to a news report, the Elementary Education Foundation in K-P province is set to launch its accelerated learning programme for out-of-school children of the province. Under the programme changes will be introduced in the curriculum and the syllabus taught in the schools. Where revising the syllabus is an important exercise that should be done more often across provinces, the programme will fall short of its targeted objectives if it does not fix the causes for lower enrollment and a higher drop-out rate in schools, as they range from poverty to cultural factors, particularly in the case of girls.
Changing the syllabus alone will never increase the rate of enrollment unless the populace is made aware of the importance of receiving education. It is also the need of the hour that the provincial government makes it mandatory for families to enroll their girls in schools. If a child is already enrolled in a school, only then he or she can be taught whatever the syllabus or the curriculum is.
