Arguing with the robbers and resisting them is never wise because it can lead to one’s death.
KARACHI: This is with reference to Nusrat Vohra’s letter in your newspaper of May 21 titled “Robbed not one, but twice!”.
The writer did the right thing both times he was robbed. In such situations, arguing with the robbers and resisting them is never wise because it can lead to one’s death. However, as a freelance security educator and consultant, I would like to suggest that it is always wise to keep some money and your CNIC, ATM/credit cards separately concealed in your clothes and also keep the phone you use regularly in vibration mode hidden on your body under your clothes, while an unserviceable cell phone and a spare wallet with some money and out-of-use ATM/credit cards can be kept in plain view, to give to robbers.
The latter are always in a great hurry and generally do not want to take the time to actually sift through wallets and check their contents. Similarly, it is also advisable to carry the duplicate of one’s car keys concealed in one’s clothes because sometimes, robbers also take away car keys if they cannot get anything else of value from the victim.
