The authorities concerned should look into the parking issues and traffic problems of these areas
KARACHI: The traffic in Karachi this Eid was way more than what people had anticipated owing to the two new recreational places that had been built recently: the Askari Amusement Park and Nueplex cinema near Askari IV.
The road leading up to these places were jampacked because the authorities who built the places had thought little to care about the traffic congestion that may be caused because of these projects. As for the amusement park located at the old sabzi mandi next to the Central Jail, the amusement park was built without much consideration being given to allotting a big enough place designated as a parking area. In fact no barricades directing people to the entrance to avoid traffic chaos were also made and hence cars were taking routes that were causing a disruption.
On the other hand, the new cinema’s entrance was built right on the main road and hence cars coming out and in were blocking the entire road. On top of that no police constable was stationed to direct the route as many so-called educated movie-goers took the wrong way once they left the premises to avoid the U-turn that was just 200 metres away.
These two places are bound to increase the traffic woes in the metropolis if not taken care of. The authorities concerned should look into the parking issues and traffic problems of these areas before things get out of control.
