US-North Korea summit

Letter June 19, 2018
Should a president who has pulled out of a similar deal, should be given credit for this achievement?

ISLAMABAD: Not just the international community but even the common people across the world are shocked at the developments made during last week’s US-North Korea summit in Singapore. North Korea has for decades violated the UN Security Council’s resolutions asking it to desist from developing nuclear weapons has finally given up on its nuclear ambitions.

Should a president who has pulled out of a similar deal, stopping another country from having nuclear weapons, should be given credit for this achievement? Or possibly is it just the turn of events and the international pressure that has pushed North Korea towards negotiations? Either way, groups lauding the summit cannot quash the skepticism behind the situation. The possibility of North Korea buying more time or maybe covering some other agenda are possibilities anyone with the acumen to understand international relations in the context of realism cannot ignore.
