Filing disqualification case against their opponent has started to come way too handy for politicians here
LAHORE: Lodging complaints and filing appeals against members of other political parties and seeking their disqualification is the new found game Pakistani politicians have come to terms with. Apparently, filing a disqualification case against their opponent for one reason or the other has started to come way too handy for politicians here.
From the top to the lowest cadre, approaching courts has become the new fashion. For instance, very recently a PTI member lodged an appeal against Maryam Nawaz from the PML-N, seeking her disqualification. In another case, a PML-N member sought PTI’s Sheikh Rasheed’s disqualification on the pretext of him not declaring all of his assets to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Although, such appeals are mostly dismissed within a period of days, it shows that any tactic that is seemingly the easiest to oust an opponent is repetitively misused by the majority here. Hence, the courts should perhaps device a strategy to bar political figures from misusing a right granted by the law.
