Suicide prevention

Letter June 11, 2018
If society at large becomes more open to listening to people developing suicidal tendencies many lives can be saved

KARACHI: The news of suicide of two globally famous fashion and media personalities within a week points at the dark reality hidden behind the glimmer of one’s life. Suicidal tendencies are more common than one would believe them to be. It is only when one fails to find appropriate help in due time that they resort to the ultimate action.

Inability to find suitable help and coping mechanism too stems from the taboo attached to the idea of seeking help for chronic depression or anxiety. Only if society at large becomes more open to listening to people developing suicidal tendencies many lives can be saved.
