Many bigwigs from the PML-N and the PPP have decided to contest the polls as independents. For instance, Hamid Saeed Kazmi from the PPP. Similarly, not affiliated with any political party yet important personalities contesting elections as independents is highly likely to affect the prospects of these parties.
Although independent candidates mostly join a party after winning in the elections, it nevertheless reduces the number of votes a said party’s candidate would have secured.
