Outrage over recent episode of Quantico that shows a Hindu nationalist framing Pakistanis for a terrorist attack
LAHORE: The fact that the Walt Disney-owned channel ABC had to apologise to its ultra-patriotic Indian fans for its fictional show Quantico starring Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra only goes to show how far extremism has gone. The outrage over a recent episode of the show that shows a Hindu nationalist framing Pakistanis for a terrorist attack went so far where Indians raised questions over Ms Chopra’s patriotism, also calling for a ban on her movies and the episode being aired in India.
Perhaps these ultra-nationalists have once again failed to realise that it’s just mere fiction over which their outrage is targeted at. Perhaps we — not just Indians, as Pakistanis are no different — have become so intolerant that for the smallest possible thing we can outright call someone a traitor. The extremism that has spread has done no one good but despite that it only seems to grow. And such is the world we live in today, a world where next generations will be raised with hatred and extremism in their blood.
