The Pakistani rulers should learn from history and seek to address our interests instead of serving foreign masters.
LAHORE: Dr Ishrat Hussain’s article in your issue of May 20 titled “US assistance: Differing perceptions” should silence many apologists of US aid to Pakistan. For years we have not read the writing on the wall. The US supported our pariah military rulers, who were seeking legitimacy, for its own interests. This is how imperialist powers operate through local plants and ‘quislings’. We chose to become hired guns and now for the first time a nuclear power is invaded in the middle of the night and we find ourselves helpless. Is this the state we want to live in? For me the answer is a big no.
The Pakistani rulers should learn from history and seek to address our interests instead of serving foreign masters.
