KARACHI: K-Electric had promised scheduled load-shedding during the month of Ramazan so that people would have some relief while fasting, especially in the scorching summer heat.
However, as usual, the electricity utility firm has not delivered what it had so confidently promised. While load-shedding lasted for just an hour thrice a day in the area I reside, it has not followed a routine since the very first week of the holy month.
For the first two days the load-shedding experienced at a particular time and once everyone in the area got accustomed to it and worked their way around the scheduled power cut it was pushed forward by an hour every other day, without prior warning.
This makes setting a routine for the day practically impossible as the electricity would be cut off for an hour according to KE’s own convenience, so far barring the iftar and sehri timings thankfully.
But with the rate the time for load-shedding is being pushed forward, it wouldn’t be surprising if these timings are also not spared, as some localities in Karachi are experiencing load-shedding during the iftar and sehri time.
One cannot help concluding K-E actually feels happy by torturing its consumers in the hot weather, year after year.
