Problem comes from the unawareness of the importance of basic medical tests that are helpful
KARACHI: A significant number of people in Pakistan still suffer from common and easily treatable epidemics. Diseases like measles and hepatitis continue to lead to a number of deaths annually in the country despite the availability of an affordable treatment.
Part of the problem comes from the unawareness of the importance of basic medical tests that are helpful in timely and even early diagnosis of several diseases.
It is mostly when one notices severe mid-stage disease symptoms that they seek proper medical treatment. In order to help with this problem, perhaps basic screening tests should be made a mandatory requirement for issuance of important documents such as driving licences or passports, only then would the majority bother to get themselves screened medically for their own good.
