Only those holding a public office and serving the public in some capacity should be entitled to receive security
LAHORE: According to a news report, Imran Khan, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have been provided with security officials as these party heads have repeatedly received threats. Where provision of security is important, it has been provided at public’s expense. That is, the money to be spent on development projects is being spent on the security of these political figures and party heads.
The importance of security cannot be denied, however, as a matter of fact, these leaders receive threats for their own doings and more for the statements that they give against other political parties. Therefore, they should pay for their own security themselves, specifically because this results in an already poor performing government putting more public-sector programmes at halt.
Only those holding a public office and serving the public in some capacity should be entitled to receive security from the public kitty.
