Given the number of Hindus that live in Sindh, the assembly’s measures in this direction are indeed commendable
HYDERABAD: Keeping the poor performance and development record of the Sindh government aside, the provincial assembly deserves applause for taking up the most number of bills for the rights of the Hindu community. Various bills have been enacted as laws, including the Hindu Marriage Bill, in this tenure of the provincial assembly.
Recently, the assembly has passed the bill allowing Hindu widows to re-marry, who were otherwise barred by their own culture and customs from doing so. The assembly also amended the Sindh Hindu Marriage Act, allowing both the spouses to seek separation under the law. Given the number of Hindus that live in Sindh, the assembly’s measures in this direction are indeed commendable.
