With the temperature less likely to lower down soon. an increase in the number of casualties cannot be eliminated
HYDERABAD: Amid the tall claims of the city authorities, over 60 people have died due to the heatwave in the city since the past weekend. Many among the deceased passed away due to worsening conditions that were caused by soaring temperatures coupled with frequent power outages in the city, mostly in areas such as Korangi and Orangi Town where majority of the labour and lower middle class people reside, and hence cannot afford facilities like power generators. With the temperature less likely to lower down any time soon, the possibility in the increase in the number of casualties cannot be eliminated.
On the other hand, in the absence of preventive measures by the authorities, citizens have been trying to tackle the heat on their own.
