Insects are also seen crawling in restaurants, and even in some upscale restaurants
LAHORE: Over the last few years Pakistan has seen the emergence of new eateries opening up in almost every corner of its cities. From Peshawar to Islamabad to Karachi, almost every other month a café is inaugurated that promises to be different from what we have been served — in terms of food and ambience, while the price range is almost above what a middle-class family can afford.
However, with so many eateries opening up one can’t help but wonder if these eateries get a food clearance certificate by the relevant authorities. It is no secret that many restaurants have been found providing their customers low quality food at high prices. People leave cafes with an upset tummy after having eaten their food. Insects are also seen crawling in restaurants, and even in some upscale restaurants.
In view of these conditions, it becomes important for food inspectors and regulatory bodies to devise a plan or a licensing system whereby every new eatery has to obtain a clearance certificate that is prominently displayed on its premises.
