Post 9/11, the world has experienced repeated episodes of terrorism
ISLAMABAD: The second deadly shooting occuring this time in a school in Texas, America, is a dark reminder for those who believe schooling or vacationing abroad in European countries or the US is relatively safer than doing it anywhere in Pakistan. A certain majority is often repeatedly seen upholding the idea of Western locations being more secure than this region of the world that has been affected by massive violent extremism.
Post 9/11, the world has experienced repeated episodes of terrorism which have only increased in intensity over time. It is partly due to ethnic profiling of certain sects from South Asian countries particularly Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Middle East that such regions are frequently targeted as terrorist sanctuaries.
Further, it is ironic to see how after an unfortunate incident American authorities are seen issuing warning and precautionary directives to its citizens in other countries. Hopefully, with one of their students being killed in the incident Pakistani authorities, too, will take more stringent measures to ensure the safety of the country’s citizens.
