They came, they killed, they left

The Foreign Office stood helpless, while American officials came and flew their staff member back home

ISLAMABAD: Quite unsurprisingly, another US diplomat has managed to leave Pakistan escaping the court charges against him for killing a citizen here. Days after the incident and perhaps after even more of negotiations and mulling between the authorities of the two countries, it’s the Americans who have once again won without much effort against their Pakistani counterparts. The Foreign Office stood helpless, while American officials came and flew their staff member back home.

The incident is not the first and neither the last, but this time around a settlement over the matter outside the court is still out of sight. Despite that the two reciprocated sanctions on each other’s diplomats in the two countries, however, treatment of a Pakistani or any other diplomat charged by US authorities with such cases is yet to be seen.
