In the wake of this, similar traffic arrangements like the ones witnessed on May 12th should be made
KARACHI: Perhaps for the first time in Karachi’s history, two jalsas held on a single day did not cause any serious problems for regular commuters. On Saturday, May 12th, the PPP and the PTI jalsas took place in the city. While one took place in the mid-afternoon and the other began after the former was over, in the night. Nonetheless, neither jalsas caused major traffic jams nor had main expressways of the city blocked — something that has often been witnessed previously, during jalsas of other political parties.
This was a major relief for the citizens not taking part in the jalsas as they could enjoy their weekend as usual and visit places easily, barring the areas where the jalsas were held. With the general elections right around the corner, different political parties will have frequent jalsas to announce their manifestoes and increase their vote banks in the city. In the wake of this, similar traffic arrangements like the ones witnessed on May 12th should be made, so that commuters have little to no traffic issues.
