Kot Asadullah water borne diseases should be addressed without any loss of time
LAHORE: Sooner than expected, consumption of the water heavily contaminated with toxins has begun to show its results in the form of bodily deformities. According to reports in newspapers, Kot Asadullah in Punjab has numerous such cases, where children as young as 12 and 15 years of age have severe bone and bodily deformations as the water supplied is found to have an amount of industrial waste and toxins.
Previously numerous organisations have raised alarms over the issue with laws too being formulated to stop factories from dumping their production waste in water resources. Where water purifying technology might be too costly a procedure for a small village, the medical treatment cost for those suffering from the water-borne diseases is far higher.
The government should act without any further loss of time to eliminate the contamination of water resources.
