Although the party held responsible for the carnage has been curtailed, action is yet to be taken against it
KARACHI: Eleven years to the May 12th 2007 bloodshed in Karachi, the country still awaits the answer and more importantly the closure to one of the most violent incidents in its history, when a political party single-handedly managed to close the whole city down bringing the everyday activities to a halt.
Many of the cases in the courts against the suspects are yet to complete the trial process. Apart from the slow and flawed legal system, the disinterest on the part of the two previous governments in the case is another reason why over hundreds of the case files exist with little to no progress. Although the party named and held responsible for the carnage has been almost wiped off from the bigger political picture, action against it is still very important so that no other political group is able to misuse its authority while sharing power with other parties.
