Misogynist comments

Letter May 09, 2018
If men like Sanaullah make it to power corridors then it is no surprise many women don't believe in the due process

PESHAWAR: It came as no surprise when last week Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah blatantly refused to apologise for the sexist remarks he uttered against the women who attend PTI rallies. Though the minister withdrew his statement, had refused to offer an apology, saying that “I will not even say the first letter ‘s’ of sorry,” irrespective of the fact that his comments hurt a significant number of citizens, men and women alike, and he remains unperturbed about the fact that he spoke ill of the gender that makes half of the population of the country.

And let’s not forget that this man is a provincial “law minister”, with the power of making amends and suggestions to a province’s law and order. If men like Sanaullah make it to the power corridors then it is no surprise that many women do not believe in the due process that is made by men to serve their own interests. Unless these men are shown the door, real progress for women in the country will stay a pipe dream.
