Known as the Malir Cantt Road, this thoroughfare has been neglected for decades
KARACHI: We all saw a number of development projects launched in Karachi after Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah came along with a new zeal and energy.
After years of neglect, Karachi city saw a number of its road rebuilt, including the important University Road and the service roads around it.
We also saw rebuilding of the Pehalwan Goth Road which stretches from Habib University to Safoora Goth. But amid all this progress, one road still remains neglected to this day, the one that connects the University Road to Malir Cantt.
Known as the Malir Cantt Road, this thoroughfare has been neglected for decades despite the rapid growth of the adjoining housing societies and colonies.
Long stretches of this road are already rendered useless due to constant dumping of trash. Some parts of the road have become dirt tracks. The state of the dirt tracks can will be imagined during the rainy season. The road turns into a small pond.
The road needs immediate attention, especially before the monsoon season begins because when it rains area residents face great difficulties.
