Deforestation also leads to soil erosion
KARACHI: Massive deforestation in the country has led to irreparable damage to the environment. Deforestation also leads to soil erosion. The most drastic impact is the loss of habitat for millions of species as 80 per cent of Earth’s plants and animals live in forests. Deforestation is another cause of rising temperatures globally. Forest soils are moist, but without protection from the sun by the tree cover they dry out quickly.
It is important that the government here understands the severity of the issue, and takes initiatives for reforestation.
