Monsoon season warrants flooding, power outages and water-borne diseases
KARACHI: Summer season has begun and with each passing month Karachi is getting a step closer to the monsoon season. However, a season which should be a blessing for people here has become a nuisance that people have to bear through every year.
Water flooded houses and roads, power outages, water-borne diseases, particularly dengue and malaria, are few among the many hazardous issues that result due to the poor rainwater management and drainage system in the city.
One is only left with the hopes that this time around the government will take the necessary steps to avoid the situation in the city. And instead of turning a deaf ear to its citizens’ woes it will take necessary measures beforehand.
