Divided we stand

Letter April 22, 2018
It is not okay to use the reason that since he has never harassed me or is a family man

RAWALPINDI: Ever since singer and performer Meesha Shafi accused her colleague Ali Zafar of sexual harassment, the entertainment industry of our country has been divided. Some have shown their solidarity with Meesha, knowing how hard it is for a woman to open up about her abuse in a country like Pakistan, others have blatantly sided with Ali Zafar, accusing Meesha of lying.

While it is okay to want to stay neutral and choose to stay silent, it is not okay to use the reason that since he has never harassed me or is a family man — as mentioned by movie star Resham and Maya Ali — while I worked with him, as a justification as to why he cannot do that to someone else.
