Nawaz Sharif was the first Pakistani leader to visit Moscow after the breakup of the Soviet Union in March 1998.
ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to a report in your newspaper of May 13 on the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Russia. It said, incorrectly, that the visit was the first by a Pakistani leader since the demise of the Soviet Union. As a matter of fact, Nawaz Sharif was the first Pakistani leader to visit Moscow after the breakup of the Soviet Union. This was in March 1998.
