ANP against the PTM

Letter April 09, 2018
ANP has also expelled its members for lending their voice to PTM

QUETTA: Apparently, the Awami National Party’s long hegemonic domination in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has a rapidly growing political competition in the form of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), which is a movement for the protection of the rights of Pashtuns and is led by youth in the province. While both vie to struggle for the same, the ANP has been rather harsh on everyone from its party who is lending support to the movement. The ANP has not only sent show-cause notices, but has also expelled its members for lending their voice in favour of the PTM.

Looking at the strong opposition the ANP has given to the PTM, it is hard to believe that the party is scared of the loss of its position in the province more than the rights of the Pashtuns. As the ANP stands for the progress of the relatively oppressed K-P’s youth and the Pashtun ethnicity, it would have lent its support to the PTM.
