Closing down NADRA registration centres

Letter April 07, 2018
This would adversely affect the democratic process in the country

KARACHI: Due to internal operational mismanagement, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has closed down dozens of its registration and facilitation centres in Karachi. Where the closure has put additional burden on other operational centres, the move only months before the upcoming general elections might possibly also result in many individuals not being able to register themselves to vote or get NICs renewed at all. This would adversely affect the democratic process in the country. Hence, if only inefficient management is the sole reason behind the closure of the centers, then NADRA needs to sort it out immediately and consider reopening these centres.
