It is not the first time that the police in the country have sided with the culprit
TURBAT: It is painful to mention that a 13-year-old boy became the victim of sexual abuse in Sehwan. According to a report in this paper, the boy was thrown in an unconscious condition outside his residence in Karampur village near Sehwan after being raped.
What is more painful is that after recognising the person responsible for such a heinous crime, the police had refused to register an FIR. However, it is not the first time that the police in the country have sided with the culprit. We perhaps hear of such instances almost on a daily basis. Just three weeks ago, a news story reported that rapists of a five-year-old girl were at large with the police doing little to arrest them.
In view of these stories, and many others that perhaps do not even make it to the mainstream newspapers, it becomes important for the authorities concerned and provincial governments to take serious steps to not only solve these issues but also hold the police accountable for delays caused because of them.
