Often the stray dogs prevent students and workers from making it to their institutes and workplaces on time
KARACHI: The population of stray dogs is increasing in my neighbourhood by the day, creating a hazard for those venturing out in the streets. Senior citizens, in particular, are not able to go outside their houses because they cannot walk briskly enough or run and outpace the dogs that bark and chase them. Young children are also afraid. The menacing presence of stray dogs is enough to keep the elderly away from mosques. Hundreds of residents and passersby are suffering as a result.
Recently, a child of our lane was going to a shop to buy refreshments for his guests and dogs were barking and running behind him. One of the dogs subsequently sank his teeth into the boy’s left leg. Often the stray dogs prevent students and workers from making it to their institutes and workplaces on time. They are sometimes forced to take longer routes.
I urge the local authorities to do the needful without any further loss of time.
