The mysterious case of Rao Anwar

Letter March 23, 2018
We can’t deny the fact that some uneasy information is about to be unveiled

KARACHI: The mysterious surrender of SSP Rao Anwar, who is the prime accused in the case of the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud, has raised many questions. The SSP voluntarily walked to the Supreme Court premises after evading arrest for over a month and was then taken into custody after the hearing. Such casualness and ease of a person who has been charged with premeditated murders and made it at the top of the most wanted list of the Sindh police to walk to the Supreme Court speaks volumes of the backing and support he reportedly must have.

Whether the Sindh government had a hand in Rao Anwar’s disappearance from view or had backed his spree of extrajudicial killings will only be revealed in the coming weeks, but we can’t deny the fact that some uneasy information is about to be unveiled that might affect the outcome of the upcoming general election.
