Killer kite string

Letter March 20, 2018
'Government needs to maintain its writ and promote security measures for its citizens’ security'

LAHORE: Over the past few days, many caring souls in Lahore must be distraught. There is a huge sense of loss over the murder of a beautiful soul not more than three years old in our neighbourhood at Anarkali. The child was done in by a killer kite string.

The Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying Ordinance, 2001, is losing its credibility due to these ugly and tragic incidents. The average citizen is just not willing to go to the police and lodge a complaint because perhaps he or she is apprehensive of what could happen as a result. This situation is promoting such evil practices. The government needs to maintain its writ and promote security measures for its citizens’ security.
