PPP and PTI at opposing fronts

Letter March 16, 2018
The PPP’s nominee Senator Sherry Rehman is a strong contender for the position

KARACHI: After the recent Senate elections, it seems the PML-N is out of the race. The PPP, PTI-backed candidate, Sadiq Sanjrani, made it to the position of the Senate chairman and the PPP’s Mandviwalla got elected as the deputy chairman. With that, the last and important slot left to be filled is of the leader of opposition, which is to be contested by the nominated candidates of the PPP and PTI.

The PPP’s nominee, Senator Sherry Rehman, is a strong contender for the position compared to the PTI’s unofficially announced candidate, Azam Swati. However, the result entirely depends on the manoeuvering skills of the senators from the two parties to get the support of independents and senators.
