Haqqani’s term of service is still regarded as one of the most controversial
KARACHI: The Federal investigation Agency has decided to initiate a case against former ambassador Husain Haqqani on charges of corruption and misuse of funds during his term as Pakistan’s ambassador to the US. Years after the end of his ambassadorship, Haqqani’s term of service is still regarded as one of the most controversial, for his alleged involvement in many important events of that time that affected relations between the two countries, most importantly the Memogate scandal. Now that the investigation body has pressed charges against him it is important that a thorough and transparent investigation is conducted against him without the agency being forced to give in to any political influences.
