‘Alternative Learning Pathway’ centres to be setup across the province

QUETTA: The Balochistan government will set up around 150 ‘Alternative Learning Pathway’ centres which are likely to benefit approximately 8,000 children across the province. The centres will be established in collaboration with Unicef. Although the initiative is commendable, the possibility of it generating maximum benefit for the maximum number of children is less than likely, pertaining to the poor law and order in the province. Alongside low population density, cultural and social factors too are reasons for a significant number of children being out of school and learning centres.

Keeping the above in mind, only the development of such centres would not suffice. Unicef and the provincial government together need to start campaigns to convince people to send their children to schools.
