Pakistan is already facing climate change threats, such as increasing temperatures in summer months
ISLAMABAD: A talk on climate change in Pakistan is a rare occurrence as the problems that the country is currently plagued with seem more significant to ponder upon than climatic threat. However, if not acted upon quickly, climate change-inducing natural calamities together with the growing population and poverty in the country can become a threat.
Pakistan is already facing climate change threats, such as increasing temperatures in summer months and its decreasing span of monsoon rainfalls. All this are impacting badly on the wellbeing of its citizens. The same concerns were also raised in the recently held fourth International Climate Change Adaptation Policy and Science Conference held in the capital. While seminars and conferences on the topic are important the federal and provincial governments should pay heed to them to devise a strategy to counter climate change effects before the country is too vulnerable to make any amends.
