Time for justice

Letter February 27, 2018
In Pakistan if a person stands for justice and raises his/her voice against cruelty or injustice will be killed

TURBAT: Recently a report in this newspaper disclosed that a close friend of Naqeebullah Mehsud was found dead in Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday, Feb 24th. The report further disclosed that Aftab Mehsud was shot dead by unknown assailants and his body was later recovered from Diyal Road in Naqshband Town at around 8:30pm. Aftab Mehsud was an active member of the Pashtun long march recently held in Islamabad to demand justice for Naqeebullah, who was killed in what is called a fake encounter by suspended Malir SSP Rao Anwar in Karachi last month.

The postmortem report revealed he was shot thrice in the chest and once on his arm. It is really a shameful act for our politicians and authorities who are supposed to act responsibly. This shows that in Pakistan if a person stands for justice and raises his/her voice against cruelty or injustice will be killed. It is time for the entire nation to stand united against such a system of oppression. I urged the government and the authorities concerned to make joint efforts to punish the culprits.
