It would be a wise move if the PML-N works to mend its ties with the judiciary
LAHORE: The ruling party does not seem ready to bury the hatchet with the judiciary. The battle lines were drawn in the wake of the Panama case verdict. The PML-N and its prime minister are now attempting to gather support from parliament, as the former has sought to start a debate on the jurisdictional and decision-making powers of the two institutions.
Regardless of the reasons and the argument, the executive and the judiciary are two important institutions that should comply with each other on important matters. And the decision-making should rather be a joint and mutual exercise. None should attempt or run over the authority of the other.
While the other parties somewhat agreed with the prime minister, they did not forget to remind him of the instances when his own party did not support them against the judiciary. It would be a wise move if the PML-N works to mend its ties with the judiciary and does not stack up opponents against it.
