Bill is indeed much important for a country like Pakistan
LAHORE: The approval of the witness protection bill is a milestone achieved by the Punjab government to make investigation, trial and legal proceedings of a case more authentic and transparent. The bill will cover various aspects that shall be considered harmful towards the life and security of a witness, throughout the case.
The bill is indeed much important for a country like Pakistan, as due to a lack of protection to witnesses the latter are either killed or forced to back off from the case after receiving threats from the accused. This also leads to a delay in justice as investigations are often left midway owing to a witness taking back his/her claims. This is particularly the case with high-profile cases against influential or powerful figures having a common man as the witness.
The same legislation should also be enacted by the federal and other provincial governments.
